RAVENNA (BELLE) BAKER

Ravenna (Belle) Baker, daughter of Allen and Amanda Coe, was born July 20, 1874, at Palmyra, In., and died Wednesday, June 13, 1962, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. She was 87 years, ten months and 17 days old.

Mrs. Baker came to Mapleton with her parents at the age of five, where they moved on a farm in the area. She lived for the remainder of her life in the Mapleton community, and for the last several years living in the town of Mapleton. She was married to Perry O. Baker on April 6, 1898, at Onawa. Three daughters and two sons were born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death in 1938.

Mrs. Baker joined the Methodist church hero in 1880 and was the oldest member of the church at the time of her death.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Mart (Lowella) Nier of Onamia, Minn; one son, Archie and 42 great-grandchildren; one brother, William P Coe of Mapleton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, and one son.

Services were held Saturday, June 16, 1962 at St. John's Methodist church with Rev Byron W, Ayers officiating. Pallbearers were: Gary Baker, Robert Baker, Lawrence Baker, Willard Baker, Morris Hasbrouck and Wayne Thursday, Jun e 28, the Ticonic Hasbrouck. Burial was at Mt. Hope cemetery under the direction of the Walter funeral home.
