Barbara A. Timm, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 28, at Elmwood Care Center in Onawa.

Barbara Ann Mohr was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Ute, the youngest daughter of Fred and Anna (Kiepe) Mohr. She attended country school west of Ute and graduated in 1954 from Ute High School.

Barbara was baptized March 8, 1936, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ute, and she was confirmed April 10, 1949.

On May 1, 1955, Barbara was united in marriage to Ronald E. Timm, and the couple was blessed with four children: Donna, Richard, Elaine, and Roger. As a family, they lived in the Schleswig/Ricketts area until moving to the farm southeast of Ute.

After Ronald’s death, Barbara moved to Ute, where she was a resident at the time of her death.

On June 28, 2009, Barbara was united in marriage to Warren Thies.

Barbara was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ute. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and playing cards with friends and family. Barbara enjoyed her flowerbeds and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In past years, Barbara had been employed at Farmland in Denison, making many friends. After retiring from Farmland, she worked for Staley’s Catering, substitute cooking at the Ute Elementary School, and helping at the Ute Senior Citizens site. She enjoyed keeping busy and being with her many friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald; four sisters, Phyllis and her husband, Donald, Edna and her husband, Walter, Ruth and her husband, Lawrence, and Marcella and her husband, Louis; two brothers-in-law, Orval and Gary; one sister-in-law, Shirley; and two nieces, Mary and Sheila.

Survivors include her husband, Warren; four children, Donna (Dwight), Richard (Chris), Elaine (Kevin), and Roger (Deb); six grandchildren: Ryan, Darcy (Brian), Cory, Amber (Joe), Nathan and Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Colton; one brother, Fred (Darlene); two sisters-in-law, Katherine and Valerie; one brother-in-law, Walter; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ute. Rev. Chris LaBoube officiated the service with graveside rites held at St. Clair Cemetery in Ute.

Organist Lynette Thies provided accompaniment for congregational hymns “How Great Thou Art” and “I’m But a Stranger Here.” A recording of “On the Wing’s of a Snow White Dove” by Ferlin Husky was also played.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Hunter Appel, Colton Appel, Brian Weber, and Joe Appel.

Pallbearers were Ryan Petzoldt, Darcy Weber, Amber Appel, Nathan Vogt, Cory Timm, and Daniel Vogt.

The family invited everyone to the Ute Town & Country for fellowship and lunch provided by the Ladies Aid and Staley’s.

The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of arrangements.
