ONAWA, Iowa -- Ellen N. Gibson, 82, of Onawa died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Chuck Layton officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Ellen was born Dec. 10, 1922, south of Castana, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Marie (Pedersen) Nielsen. She was raised in the Castana area and graduated from Castana High School. She was a clerk in the Monona County Treasurer's office, Deputy County Auditor and later was church secretary at Onawa United Methodist Church for over 20 years.

She married Keith Gibson on Oct. 5, 1948 at Onawa. The couple made their home in Onawa and were the parents of three children.

Survivors include her husband, Keith; a daughter, Kathleen Larson, of Holstein, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Kerry and Debra Gibson of Ames, Iowa and Robert Gibson and Marcia Waitt of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Christopher Larson, Kathryn and Sam Gibson, Reed Gibson and Natalie Waitt-Gibson; a stepgranddaughter, Stephanie Puddy; a sister and her husband, Ethel and Ernest Nutt, of Castana; a brother, Vincent, of Dundee, Ill.; and two sisters-in-law, Hope Nielsen of Onawa and Jackie Nielsen of Omaha, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Allgood; three brothers, Gerhard, Howard and Norman; and a sister-in-law, Luella Nielsen.
