Wilma J. Mathison, 89, of Little Sioux, Iowa died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, Iowa with Vicar Shari Schwedhelm, officiating. Burial will be in the Little Sioux Cemetery, Little Sioux, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Wilma Jean was born April 7, 1928 in Little Sioux, Iowa the daughter of William and Mabel (Breeling) Ferris. She grew up and attended school in Little Sioux and graduated from Little Sioux High School in 1945.

Wilma and Dale Mathison were united in marriage on February 7, 1946 at the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa. To this union two children were born, David and Danny.

Wilma was a caring and devoted mother who loved her family deeply. She enjoyed being a mother and raising her family in Little Sioux. She had a great love for animals of all kinds. She also enjoyed gardening and watching any sport. She especially enjoyed attending high school wrestling meets, and was able to attend the State Wrestling Meet for 25 years in a row, where she could be found cheering on the kids whom she loved to watch. Wilma and Dale enjoyed traveling and they loved to spend as much time flying as they could.

Wilma was a past member of the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa and was currently a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, Iowa.

Now we, who are left behind, while she lives in peace, are blessed by her memory, so generously given. The joy she gave those whom she knew lives on and we are so forever grateful for it.
Survivors include her two sons, David Mathison of Little Sioux, Iowa and Danny Mathison of Little Sioux, Iowa; one brother and his wife, Edward and Darlene Ferris of Blair, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mabel (Breeling) Ferris; and her husband, Dale Mathison.
