Elsie Gayle Cummins, 69, Onawa, Iowa died December 3,2006 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa.

Elsie Gayle was born June 14, 1937 in Onawa, Iowa the daughter of Daniel and Dorotha (Voiles) Clayton and was raised in the Onawa and Turin areas.

She married Russell Louis Cummins November 24, 1953 in Onawa. Russell was in the United States Army for 22 years and the couple was stationed throughout the world until his retirement. They returned to Onawa where they owned and operated the Chalet Cafe in Onawa for nine years. Elsie was a licensed dietician and later was Food Service Supervisor at Burgess Health Center. Russ passed away July 1, 2004.

Survivors include three daughters, Kim Myers of Orlando, FL, Rebecca and her husband Mike Parr of Avoca, NE and Megan Cummins of Avoca; four sons and their wives, Russell, Jr. and his wife, Rose of Decatur, NE, Daniel and Karen of Hampton, VA, Ervin and Denise of Sibley, IA and Robert and Darla of Onawa; twelve grandchildren, Candy (Nick) Roth, Casey, Cody, Christopher, Ryan, Joshua, Kristin, Carissa, Calena, McKormick and McKenzie Cummins and Michael Parr; three step grandchildren, Pat and (Jenny) French, Tina (Doug) Jump and Leanna (John) Benson; many great grandchildren; a brother, Lyle and wife Robert Clayton of Battle Creek, IA; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Wagner of Moorhead, IA and Gladys Cogdill of Portland, OR; many nieces and nephews and special family friends, Wayne Jepson and his son Nick.

In addition to her husband, Russ, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen; her parents, Daniel Clayton and Dorotha Butcher; a sister, Norma Jean; three brothers, Dwight L., Lynn C. and her twin, Edward G. Clayton.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Rush Family Chapel, Onawa with Pastor Don Collison officiating. Music selections were "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden" with Becky Marcum, soloist and Ann Phillips, organist. Visitation was Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
