Castana resident remembered at services

Roger L Davis, 57, of Castana died Wednesday Nov 8, 2006 at Castana.

Services were Saturday Nov 11 at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton with Pastor Fred Pilecki officiating Burial was in Kennebec Cemetery, Castana.

Roger Leroy Davis was born Nov 25, 1948 the son of Clarence and Wanda (Chamberlain) Davis, in Moorhead, Iowa, at the family farm. On Aug 30, 1968, he was united in marriage to Sandra Susan Allen of Onawa, Iowa.

Roger attended the school of hard knocks, worked on his farm raising hogs and selling iron, worked for several different construction companies, on the weekends, enjoyed drinking beer, playing cards, and fishing and toward the end enjoyed teaching his family how to use his woodworking and power tools.

Roger will be missed for his enthusiasm for life, his freely given laughter and smiles, his advice and shoulder to lean on and mostly his love.

Those survivors left to cherish Roger's memory include his wife of 38 years, Sandra Davis, his four children, Teresa (Davis) Jacoby and her husband, Scott Jacoby of Danbury, Iowa, Penny Davis of Omaha, Neb., Chester Davis and his wife, Kern Davis of Ute, Iowa and Arthur Davis and his wife, Ashley Davis of Waldorf, Md. his grandchildren, Samantha and Amber Jacoby, Lauren Bochmann and Sarah and Jennifer Frank, three sisters, Connie Bridgeman, Sharon Poole and her husband, David, and Vicky Helmbrecht, three brothers Gary Hargroves and his significant other, Roxanne, Rex Hargroves and his wife, Barb and Don Davis and his wife Betty, along with many other relatives and good friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Wanda Davis, and his brother, Larry Dean Davis.

Pallbearers were Dennis Boysen, Wayne Johnson, Todd Uhl, Damien Carlson, Jerry Kohnekamp and Larry Petersen.

Arrangements were made under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.
