Clifton Orville Domina, 78, of Hancock, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Services were held Nov. 27 at Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Larry Fiscus officiated. Burial was in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa. Military rites were conducted by the Iowa Army National Guard.

Clifton Orville Domina, the son of Clifton V. and Lily Mary (Miller) Domina, was born Feb. 6, 1926, in Obert, Neb. They moved to Iowa when he was 5 years old. He attended country school through the eighth grade and then Onawa (Iowa) High School for two years, often riding his bike seven miles in the morning and then again after school.

In his teen years, he worked as a farm laborer in the summers and for 10 years following his two years in the U.S. Army. He served during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge, in Belgium, where he froze his feet.

On Aug. 27, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lois Wagner of Turin, Iowa. To this union, five children were born. In November 1956, he began working as a meat inspector for the U.S.D.A. He retired after 30 years and then did odd jobs to keep busy until he became disabled by a stroke.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Hancock; three sons and their wives, David and Patricia Domina of Norfolk, Neb., Gary and Elena Domina of Coos Bay, Ore., and Paul and Karen Domina of Omaha; a daughter, Betty Davis of Omaha; his grandchildren, Dawn (Monty) Bundy of Webster, S.D., Andrew (Beth) Domina of Omaha, Shari (David) Dittmeyer of Lawton, Okla., Becki (James) Nored of Liberty, Mo., Stephen Domina of Weldon, Iowa, John Domina of Oklahoma City, Okla., Adam (Jill) Domina of Osceola, Iowa, Zacharie Domina of Omaha, Connor, Mary, Ian, Bryan and Matthew Davis, all of Omaha; four sisters, Dorothy and her husband, Kenneth Alderson, Lois Loetz and Phyllis and her husband, James LeBarge, all of Sioux City, and Dee and her husband, Gary Kendall of Omaha; two brothers and their wives, Melvin and Nancy Domina of Omaha, and Donald and Sandi Domina of Washta, Iowa; his Christian family; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nancy Faye; and a sister, LaDonna Rowell.

Pallbearers were provided by American Legion Helmer Reylet Post 150 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Shelby County, Iowa, Post 941.
