Alma Abinadi Walter was born July 24, 1936 to Harold and Martha (Buck) Walter in Decatur, Nebraska. He passed away June 26, 2017 at Elmwood Care Center in Onawa, Iowa, at the age of 80 years.

Alma served in the United States Army from March 1954 until December 1957. He was stationed in Aberdeen, Maryland and Mannheim, Germany.

Alma married Constance Couillard on March 24, 1956 in Midlothian, Illinois. They were blessed with three children, Levhon Gloria, Mark Ammon and Martha Clarice; two foster daughters, Donna and Betty.

He enjoyed spending time with family. He had a great love for music, astronomy, trains and playing Monopoly. Alma drove tractor trailer for about 15 years of his life and had a great passion for trucking. Alma and Connie teamed for several years as truck drivers.

Alma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Onawa Congregation in Onawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold (Grace) Walter, William “Bill” (Joann) Walter, brothers-in-law, Boyce Valentine and Richard Tolby.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Constance; daughters, Levhon Phillips of Blencoe, IA, Martha (Steve) Market of Genesco, IL, Donna (John) Houston of El Paso, TX, Betty Hightree of Fremont, NE; son, Mark (Melonie) Walter of West Point, NE; eleven grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy) Phillips, Daniel (Jessica) Jones, Ashley and Conrad Walter, Jessica, Jake and Alex Market, Davona Dixon, John Houston III, Alan Hightree, Dawn Mackey; two sisters, Margaret Tolby and Alta (Dale) Wolf all of Decatur; many nieces and nephews.
