ONAWA, Iowa -- Richard K. Paseka, 83, of Onawa died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Harry D. McAlpine officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2694 of Monona County. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a Scripture service at 7 p.m. and a Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Richard was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Weston, Neb., the son of Lewis and Mary (Schultz) Paseka. On April 20, 1949, he married Maurine Jividen at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Blencoe, Iowa.

He farmed all of his life, except for the years her served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Pacific.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Third Degree Onawa Blencoe Council 6249, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Garrigan Assembly 565 and American Legion David McNeill Post 129. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, woodworking and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Maurine of Onawa; a daughter and her husband, Valerie and H.C. Palmer of Lenexa, Kan.; a special nephew and his wife, Ron and Marilyn Paseka and their children, Nicole, Josh and Shannon, all of Onawa; two sisters, Mary Ann Harrigan of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Margie Wittmersehouse of Colon, Neb.; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Delores and Ruben Mungaray of Anchorage, Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Tony; and a sister, Lillian Stanislav.
