Shirley J. Dunlop, 78, of Moorhead, Iowa passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at her residence.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Moorhead Christian Church in Moorhead, Iowa with Pastor Don Naftz and Pastor Carla Johnsen, officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Moorhead Christian Church with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Shirley Joyce was born on April 22, 1939 in St. Clair Township on a farm near Ute, Iowa the daughter of Louis H. and Edna O (Toll) Koeppen. She grew up near Ute. She attended school at Mapleton & Castana and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1957. She was then employed at Anderson's Bakery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Shirley and Carl Grindle were united in marriage and four children were born to this union, Sharon, Kevin, David, and Karla.

Shirley was employed over the years at Dubuque Packing Plant in Denison, Iowa, Pleasure Inn Restaurant & Bar rural Mapleton, and Feed Bunk in Moorhead, Iowa. She owned a bar/cafe in Charter Oak, Pop In in Ricketts, and a gas station in Moorhead.

Shirley and William (Bill) Jay Dunlop were united in marriage on April 2, 1988 in Onawa, Iowa and they raised one son, Robin. Bill preceded her in death on July 25, 2015.
Shirley enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing, canning for her family as well as friends, and traveling especially to Branson.

Shirley was a member of the Moorhead Christian Church in Moorhead, Iowa and their CWF.
Shirley was also a member of Moorhead Legion Auxiliary where she served as treasurer, Monona County Legion Auxiliary, Moorhead Culture Center where she served as treasurer, Moorhead Betterment Club, and Abu Bekr Shriner's Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Open Cupboard in Mapleton and was a voting volunteer.

Survivors include her children, Sharon (Marvin) Hinrichsen of Moorhead, IA, Kevin (Lynette) Grindle of Carter Lake, IA, Dave Grindle of Soldier, IA, Karla Grindle of Black Canyon City, AZ and special friend, Mark Bryceson of Macon, MO, and Robin Dunlop of Moorhead, IA; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene (Ed) Marth of Battle Creek, IA and Jan (Jim) Yockey of Smithland, IA; brother-in-law, Harry Thiel of Phoenix, AZ; special dog companion, Tiffany II; and many nieces & nephews, cousins, and other relatives & friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Dunlop; parents-in-law; daughter-in-law, Marsha Grindle; granddaughter, Whitney Cloud; and sister, Marge Thiel.

Memorials in Shirley's memory may be directed to "For The Love Of A Child" through the Abu Bekr Shriner's Auxiliary in Sioux City, Iowa where she made 600 scarves, 50 quilts, afghans, and pillows. It's where her heart was at.
