Elvin Albert Mander, 83, of Onawa, Iowa, died Friday, March 25 , 2005, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

He was born April 15, 1921, in rural Whiting, Iowa, the son of Ed and Alma (Johnson) Mander. He attended the Whiting Community School. On December 29, 1946, he married Joyce Kelly in Onawa. He farmed near Whiting until moving to a farm near Onawa in 1975. He had been a resident of Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting since November 2004.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Onawa; a daughter, Dorothy and her husband, Richard Wade of Hudson, Ohio; a grandson, Dayne Wade; a granddaughter, Kelly Black; a brother, Elroy Mander of Crescent, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Flora Kelly of Onawa; 3 sisters-in-law, Lula Mae Mander, Phyllis Mander, and Marjone Mander; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Edward, Earl, Ervin, and Ernest and Elmer as infants; and 3 sisters, Florence, Flavia, and Muriel.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Dennis Olsen officiating. The organist was Mrs. Jack Jordan and the congregational hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace".

Casket Bearers were Charlie Brown, Jr., Paul Petersen, Wayne Burgess, Adair Kaehlar, Brady Hanson, and Harvey Hanson. Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa, assisting the family.
