14 June 2017Connie Rasmussen, 68, of Onawa, Iowa passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 surrounded by her loving daughters.
A funeral mass will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, Iowa with Father Michael Erpelding, Celebrant, officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 with the Rosary at 6:45 P.M. followed by a scriptural wake service at 7:00 P.M. at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Constance Marie "Connie" was born February 28, 1949 at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of William "Bill" A. and Arlene (Bernard) Bulit. She grew up in the Sioux City and Sioux Falls areas. She graduated from O'Gorman Catholic High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She raised a family of 5 kids on a farm in Jackson, Ne later moving to Ponca Ne where she worked as a phlebotomist at Marian Health Center and put herself through school earning a degree in nursing as an RN. She traveled as an RN across the United States and later quit nursing to dig deeper in her faith which led to Onawa, Iowa where she was employed by and managed Subway.
She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, cooking, crocheting, spent countless hours traveling to spiritual events, praying for special causes, telling stories or simply attending church.
Connie was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, Iowa. Her faith and prayer were very important to her. She was a great example of Gods love & something that she passed onto her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Julie Nelsen of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Angie (Brad) DeRoin of Sloan, IA, Brenda (Jesse) Duerksen of Salix, IA, and Sheri (Jim) McCluskey of Dakota City, NE; grandchildren, Bryce Nelsen, Brody Nelsen, Brylie (fiance Charlie Ummach) Nelsen, Tami (Robert) Kibby, Tanner DeRoin, Carley (Brad Steinhoff) DeRoin, Aryanna DeRoin, Jake DeRoin, Kelsie (Corey Webster) Lyon, Luke Lyon, Chloe Duerksen, Carson Duerksen, Brock McCluskey, Jaycie McCluskey, and Josie McCluskey; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Diane) Bulit of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert Bulit of Sioux City, IA, and Bryan Bulit of Sioux City, Iowa; sister, Mary Bulit of Sioux City, IA; and many nieces & nephews, cousins, and other relatives & friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Arlene Bulit and her son, Corey Rasmussen.
