Tracy Scott Roberts, 45, Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away Saturday August 20, 2005 due to a boating accident at Lake Lida, Minnesota.

Tracy was born June 12, 1960 at Onawa, Iowa, the son of Richard and Joan Roberts.

He graduated from Whiting Community School in 1978. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science & Civil Engineering Degree in 1984.

For the past 21 years, Tracy was a loyal and devoted employee for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Iowa Department of Transportation. He lived and worked in the DesMoines and Sioux City area. His last job position was District Transportation Engineer in the Atlantic Office where he held the position of Coordinator of the Council Bluffs interstate project.

Tracy had a gentle heart and devoted his life to being a servant of God and lived a Christian life. Tracy’s bible was always beside him and he read it faithfully every morning and before going to sleep at night. He was a very active member of the Christ Community Church and a leader and teacher with the Singles and International Groups. God gave Tracy a beautiful voice which he shared at many different events, singing at weddings and at church events. He loved the Lord and went on many missions to spread the word of God and Christian fellowship; his most recent mission work was with the Church team in El Salvador.

Tracy loved his family; his brothers were very special to him. He especially loved his nieces and nephews and was very involved and supportive in their lives and mentoring.

Survivors include his parents, Richard and Joan Roberts of Whiting; his three brothers, Randy of Las Vegas, N.V., Mark of Whiting and Matthew and his wife Kathy of Jackson, Minnesota, his three nieces, Stephanie and her husband Stacy, Leah and Cory; his two nephews, Nicholas and Bryce and a grand nephew, Jonathan. Tracy was a member of the Big Brother Association and had weekly outings with his very special friend and little brother, Cole Thurlow.

He was preceded in death by death of his grandparents, Roland and Florence Wilen and Homer and Mabel Roberts.

A memorial service was 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Christ Community Church, Omaha, Nebraska with Lee Westphal, officiating. A funeral service was 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2005 at First Congregational Church at Whiting, Iowa with Rev. Ray Stollins, officiating.

Tracy will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
