Palma Blackman, 109, of Onawa, Iowa passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Dennis Burns, officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. until service time Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Palma was born January 3, 1908 in Soldier, Iowa the daughter of Nels and Mary (Moen) Erickson. She graduated from Soldier High School. After graduation, she worked as a housekeeper until her marriage.

Palma and Voyle Blackman were united in marriage on February 26, 1938 in Denison, Iowa. Voyle preceded her in death in November of 1986.

Palma was a housekeeper her entire life. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, cards, and square dances.

Palma was baptized and confirmed in the Soldier Lutheran Church. She was currently a member of the Ute Christian Church.

Survivors include her nieces, Janet Sanford of Carroll, IA and LaJune Godberson of Ida Grove, IA; her nephew, Roger (Kathy) Erickson of Omaha, NE; and several great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels & Mary Erickson; her husband, Voyle Blackman; her brothers, Elmer Erickson & Edwin Erickson; and her sisters, Mergena Lee, Clara Datterl, and Gertrude Erickson.
