Rosalind A. Droegmiller, 63, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Kennebec Cemetery, Castana, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rosalind was born Aug. 2, 1942, in Sioux City, to Crist and Lillian Irene (Davis) Droegmiller. She attended school in Aurelia, Iowa, and graduated from Marcus (Iowa) High School. She then attended and in three years graduated with honors from Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, in 1963.

She taught school in various places in Iowa. She moved to Colorado, where she worked at the library for the city of Aurora. She also was the director of the library for the business college in Denver. She received her master's degree in library science from the University of Denver in 1973. Due to her failing health, she returned to Sioux City in 1991, to be with her mother.

She was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and many other crafts, but reading was her real joy. Because of her blindness, the Iowa Department of the Blind in Des Moines would supply her with tapes so she could get to hear books. She also completed a course in Braille, so that she could read.

She is survived by her mother, Lillian Irene; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Crist; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Droegmiller; her stepfather, Walter Holmen; and several aunts and uncles.
