Mary Evelyn (Wagner) Hart, 79, of Genoa, Colorado, (formerly of Turin, Iowa) passed away from polycythemia vera and leukemia on December 19, 2016, at Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

A memorial graveside service will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 23, 2017 at Belvidere Cemetery, rural Turin, Iowa. A reception will immediately follow at Loren Hollister Post #496, American Legion, 211 South 1st Street, Mapleton, Iowa 51034. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Mary was born August 9, 1937, in Onawa, Iowa, to Robert Wagner and Nellie (Reilly) Wagner of Turin, Iowa. Mary was the sixth of seven siblings, including Robert, Lois, James, Leo, Nellie, and Ronald. Her mother Nellie passed away while Mary was still a toddler, leaving her father to raise the children on their farm. Ronnie, the baby, was lovingly taken in by an aunt and uncle who raised him.

Mary loved to tell stories about growing up on the farm. Her favorites describe how she broke her leg (and innocent Leo was blamed) and how all of the younger children rode together on an old horse back and forth to their one-room schoolhouse each day. Within a few years of graduating from Castana High School, Mary met and married Laurence Schincke. Together they had six children. Mary held a variety of jobs throughout her life, including bank clerk, meat cutter, and finally income maintenance worker for the state of Iowa in Sioux City, the job from which she retired.

In 2002, Mary and husband William (Bill) Hart moved to Flagler, Colorado. She was often seen about town as she, her daughter Roberta (Robbin) Schincke, and her grandsons John and Charlie Boyd, rode through town on their horses. Mary also became active in the Flagler community, particularly enjoying acting in I-70 Players dinner theater, serving on the board of the Creighton-Flagler Senior Center, and functioning as the treasurer of Red Hats.

Gardening and raising chickens were two of Mary's favorite hobbies. In 2009 Mary, now widowed, moved with Robbin and her sons to a farm near Genoa, Colorado. There Mary worked hard at expanding her flower and vegetable gardens and collecting eggs from her chickens. She would often give the vegetables and eggs to her friends at the Creighton-Flagler Senior Center.

Mary also loved to travel. She and Bill enjoyed RV'ing on long cross-country trips to visit family and friends. After Bill passed away, Mary continued to travel, journeying to Europe and England with grandsons John and then Charlie. Mary's most recent trip was to Ireland in October 2016 with her eldest daughter Patricia (Patty) and Patty's husband Tim Kerns.
Mary Hart is survived by her six children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. These include Mary's daughter Patty and Tim Kerns of Limon, Colorado, and Patty's son Wesley and Cassandra Coll (and their children Alexander and Aleina) and Patty's daughter Cynthia (Coll) and Robert Enriques, Mary's daughter Deborah and Steve Huff of Cosby, Tennessee, and their children Stephanie (Janie) Huff (and her children Cora and Dillon) and Curtiss Huff and Deborah's daughter Amanda Schable, Mary's son Laurence Schincke and Cindi Doorenbol of Ankeny, Iowa, and their daughter Megan (Schincke) Raitt and John Raitt (and their children Jackson, Sam, and Sophia), and Larry's children Jacob Schincke (and his daughter Chera), Caleb and Brooke Schincke (and their daughter Rayah), and Katelyn Schincke, Mary's son Jeffrey and Diane Schincke of Clinton, Tennessee, and their son Mackenzie Schincke and Jeffrey's son Thomas Schincke, Mary's daughter Robbin Schincke of Genoa, Colorado, and her children John and Rabab Boyd and Charlie Boyd, and Mary's son Matthew Schincke of Omaha, Nebraska, and his children Seth Schincke, Shelby Schincke, Shari Schincke, and Sammi Schincke.

Mary is also survived by her much-loved siblings and their surviving spouses, Lois (Wagner) Domina, Leo and Marilyn Wagner, Nellie (Wagner) Clingenpeel, and Ronald and Barbara Wagner and their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her wonderful sisters-in-law Elsie Wagner and Teddy Wagner and their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Predeceasing Mary are both parents, her husband William Hart, and brothers Robert Wagner and James Wagner, as well as brothers-in-law Leonard Clingenpeel and Orville Clifford Domina.
