Geneva Mae Riley, 82, Onawa, Iowa died unexpectedly at her residence Saturday, May 20, 2006.

Geneva was born January 15, 1924 at Little Sioux, Iowa, the daughter of Marion and Jessie Mae (Hower) Jacoba. In 1932, she moved with her mother to Council Bluffs, Iowa where she attended Bloomer School.

Geneva and Ervin Riley were united in marriage January 31, 1942 at Dakota City, Nebraska and the couple made their home in Onawa. A few years later, they relocated to Wyoming and later Missouri before moving back to Onawa. Ervin passed away January 6, 1988 at Onawa.

Geneva was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, word puzzles, coffee time at Janz and especially spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Leo and Kim Riley of Onawa, two daughters, Linda Coleman and her significant other, Ernest Harwig of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Laurie Joy of Riverton, Wy., eight grandchildren, Donie (Rolette) Coleman, Angela (Ben Eagle) Riley, Amy (Mac) McDermott, Christopher (Valessa Parrish) Riley, Jesse Joy, Skyler Riley and Tori Riley; five great-grandsons, Sean Cole, James, Sam and Quinten; two great-granddaughters, Fallon and Lily and another soon to join the family; four sister-in-laws, Lauretta Jacoba of Colorado Springs, Co., Dixie Riley of Joplin, Mo., Nina Rush of Centerville, Ohio, Florence Riley of Onawa and Lizzie Riley of Storm Lake, Iowa and two cousins, Lester Jacoba of Sioux City, Iowa and a lifelong friend and special cousin, Verla “Tootie” Collison of Onawa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Denney and a brother, Homer Jacoba.

Funeral services were 2:oo p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Rush Family Chapel, Onawa with Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Music selections were solos, “Stronger With Time” provided by Geneva’s granddaughter, Tori Riley and “In The Garden”, “Beyond The Sunset” and “Amazing Grace” provided by Darren Goslar, Deb Lauritsen was organist. Burial was in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation was 4:00 – 8:oo p.m. Tuesday.

Casket bearers were Guy Coleman, Donnie Coleman, Jr., Larry Riley, Christopher Riley, Bill Davis and Skyler Riley.

Honorary bearers were Lyle Collison, Mac McDermott, Jim Joy, Lester Jacoba, Ernest Harwig and Donie Coleman.
