Farmer Near Whiting Dies

Joseph McFarland, 62, Resident for 44 Years

Joseph E. McFarland, 62, a farmer of near Whiting for the last 44 years, died Wednesday in the home of his son, Archie McFarland of Whiting.

Surviving are the widow; one son, Archie; two daughters, Mrs. Ida Hall of Whiting and Mrs. Dorothy Bradfield of Interior, S.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Horton of Quinn, S.D.; Mrs. Minnie Hall of Medical Lake, Washington and Mrs. Jessie Hollenbeck of Sloan; a half-sister, Mrs. Mamie Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., and three half-brothers, Lloyd Climer of Reliance, S.D.; Homer Climer of Morristown, Tenn. and Clarence Climer of Lyons, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Methodist church at Sloan. Rev. John Ralston of Salix and Rev. Homer Perry of Sloan will officiate. Burial will be in the Sloan Cemetery.

The body was at the Hilts Funeral Home in Sloan.
