John K. McCaskey, a prominet citized of Onawa, died last night at 7:30. He was born in Belmont County OH, April 1831; removed to Indiana in 1855; enlisted in Company C 27th Indiana infantry in September 1861, and served until June 1864 when he was discharged on account of wounds. He came to Onawa in 1866; was elected clerk of the district court in 1868 and served 14 consecutive years as clerk and auditor of Monona County. He was quartermaster of Hanscom post No. 97 G.A.R. since its organization and for many years was president of the Onawa school board. Hanscom post will have charge of the funeral services.
