Hollis Duane Mackey, 64, Onawa, Iowa, died June 10, 1986 at Elmwood Nursing Home, Onawa, Iowa.

He was born July 27, 1921, at Kellerton, Iowa, to Grover and Ola (Duffield) Mackey. He moved to Whiting with his family as a youth and later to Onawa. On December 20, 1944, he married Frances Ada Hughes at Elk Point, South Dakota. She died April 13, 1985, in Omaha. He was a diesel mechanic with International Harvester at Onawa and also was employed by the city of Onawa for 10 years as a mechanic.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Vester Lodge No. 223 AF & AM, Monona Lodge No. 380, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2270 and served for 18 ˝ years on the Onawa Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. David (Kathy) Martin and Mrs. Roger (Susan) Brink, both of Onawa; two brothers, Howard of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Robert of San Francisco, four sisters, Mrs. William (Roberta) Funkhouser of Oakland, California and Mrs. Roscoe (Dorothy) Dutton, Mrs. Doris Cockerton, and Mrs. Ralph (Alberta) Maher, all of Onawa and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Frances.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 1986, at First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Jerry Quandt and Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. The organist was Mrs. Vince Phillips and the soloist, Rev. Jerry Quant, sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”

Honorary bearers were Orval Claus, Robert Courtney, William Simmons, Leonard Miller, Jr., Vernon Myers and Ray Rose.

Active bearers were Keith Shull, LeRoy Vaughn, Raymond Fouts, Leo Hall, Lowell Redmond and Doug Hanson.

Interment was in Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
