Ruby Irene Olson Hayworth, the daughter of Minor and Mary Ann (Smith) Barnes was born September 13, 1913, in Unionville, Iowa. At the age of two, she came with her parents to Castana and later moved to Ute. Ruby was united in marriage to Wallace Olson on April 14, 1930, in Denison.

The couple farmed in Charter Oak, Ute, Soldier and Mapleton until his death on September 11, 1959. Ruby continued to live and farm in Mapleton communities until she was united in marriage to Wayne Hayworth on March 20, 1970, in Blair, Nebr. The couple made their home in rural Moville.

Ruby was a member of the St. Peters United Church of Christ. Ruby died on Thursday in the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee after a long illness having attained the age of 72 years, 7 months and 25 days.

Survivors include her husband Wayne, three sons, Dewaine Olson of Henderson, Minn.; Roger Olson of Cleveland, Minn.; Dennis Olson of Arlington, Texas; two daughters, Deloris, Mrs. Pete Liechti, of Omaha, Nebr.; Charlene, Mrs. Loren Johnson of Urbandale, la.; three stepdaughters, Marily, Mrs. James Jahn of Anthon, Julie, Mrs. Robert Fleenor of Sioux City, Rita, Mrs. Thomas Joy of Cushing, Eighteen grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren and six step-grandchildren, Two brothers, Dale Barnes of Ute, la.; Chester Barnes of Bode, la. Two sisters, Francis, Mrs. Emory Tadlock of Sioux City, la.; and Florence, Mrs. Walter Nagel of Onawa, la.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Wallace, one daughter, two grandsons, four sisters and four brothers.

Services were held Saturday, May 10, 1986, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Mapleton, Iowa. Pastor Richard Hempenius officiated. Mrs. Evelyn Perrin was organist with Congregational singing of "Nearer My God To Thee" and "How Great Thou Art".

Pallbearers were grandsons: Kim Johnson, Tim Johnson, Scott Olson, Kip Olson, Kory Olson and Bobby Liechti.

Ruby Irene Olson Hayworth was laid to rest in the St. Clair Cemetery at Ute, Iowa, with Walter Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
