Florence Comfort Hime,79, Onawa, Iowa, died on Tuesday, April 22, 1986, at University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.

Mrs. Hime, the former Florence Rose Duffy, was born on May 15, 1906, in Wall Lake, Iowa. Her parents were James and Bridget (Murphy) Duffy. She taught country school at Wall Lake and in 1928 began teaching at Blencoe, Iowa. She married Willis G. Comfort on February 3, 1929, at Elk Point, South Dakota. Mr. Comfort died October 3, 1968, at Onawa.

Florence taught third and fourth graders at Onawa for twenty years and later taught at Immaculate Conception School in Morningside.

She served a total of 37 years as a teacher. On June 26, 1976, she married William "Sparky" Hime in Onawa. Mr. Hime died June 12, 1980, in Sioux City.

She was a longtime Onawa resident before moving to Geneseo, Illinois, in August 1985, to be with her daughter.

She was a member of St.John's Catholic Church and its Rosary Society in Onawa, a lifetime member of the Iowa Education Association and a member of the David McNeill Post No. 129 American Legion Auxiliary in Onawa.

Survivors include one son, Willis J. Comfort of Onawa; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Mary Ellen) Crane of Geneseo, IlI.; and Mrs. Carol Ann Lambert of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Burger of Whiting; Mrs. Leona Quinn of Lake View and Mrs. Lil Corrigan of Remsen; two brothers, Walter Duffy of Odebolt and Jess Duffy of Crowley, Texas; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son, Richard, two brothers and one sister.

The Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 1986, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, Iowa.

A Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 1986, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Father R.P Wieling, Mass Celebrant. The organist was Mrs. James Stangel and the soloist, John Walker, sang, "Ave Maria" and "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked"

Casket bearers were John N. Comfort, Donald Comfort, Kenneth Comfort, Leo Stanislav, Charles Kopp, and Dayle Ellis.

Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
