Opal Irene Bramley was born August 26, 1936, the daughter of Tom and Bertha Frazier Malone. She died Thursday, June 9, 2016, at her home at the age of seventy-nine.

Opal was born on a farm near Dunlap, Iowa. She received her elementary education in the Arion Community School and the Dow City High School. Opal was united in marriage to Raymond Bramley on June 14, 1953, at her parents home in Dow City. They were married 59 happy years. The couple made their home on a farm outside of Ute, Iowa and were blessed with the birth of five children.

Opal loved being a grandma. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Whether she was buying baby dolls, toy trucks, or treats, that is what truly made her happy and brought great pleasure to her. Opal enjoyed socializing with her family around the dining room table playing Euchre. In her younger years Opal loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes. Seeing the fresh produce in the jars gave her great satisfaction.

After the loss of her daughter, Blinda, Opal spent much of her life dedicated to raising her grandson, Jon. She was very happy for the companionship that she had with him until her health no longer allowed her to do so.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; one daughter, Blinda Kohnekamp and son-in-law, Jerry Kohnekamp; one sister and seven brothers.

Survivors include: one son, Lyle Bramley and his wife, Tammy of Ute; three daughters: Sandy Meseck and her husband, Dean of Holstein, Iowa; Julie Kelm and her husband, Brian of Tyler, Texas and Choya Bielenberg and her husband, Steve of Castana, Iowa; 30 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one brother Max Malone and his wife, Clara Mae of Dow City, Iowa; many other relatives and friends that she cherished greatly.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at Ute Christian Church in Ute. Rev. Tim Koehn officiated the services and graveside rites held at Jordan Cemetery in Soldier.

Pianist Stephanie Lantz provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, "In The Garden," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Because He Lives."

Serving as pallbearers were Adam Bielenberg, Nathan Bramley, Mark Bergstadt, Seth Bielenberg, JOshua Kelm, Daniel Kline, Devin Kline and Mak Kelm.

The family invited everyone to the Ute Town & Country for fellowship, cake and coffee.

The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
