Joyce Ilene Olson, 88, of Whiting, Iowa passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa with Reverend Craig Bock, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Township Cemetery in Albaton, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Joyce Ilene was born on September 23, 1927 at Albaton, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Hattie (Peterson) DuBois. She was raised in the Albaton, Iowa area. She attended school at Whiting and graduated from Whiting High School in 1945.

Joyce married the love of her life, Keith LaVail Olson, on August 30, 1946 at her home in Albaton. To this union, four children were born, Michael, Gregory, Melvin, and Sherry. Keith preceded her in death on January 5, 2013.

Joyce was a devoted mother and homemaker. The couple enjoyed traveling around the world.

Joyce was a member of Skien Lutheran Church and their ladies aid. She also taught Bible School at Skien Lutheran Church.

Joyce is survived by her four children, Michael (Meredith) Olson of Whiting, IA, Gregory (Mary Ellen) Olson of Ruthven, IA, Melvin (Sarah) Olson of Kansas City, MO, and Sherry (Rolle) Zellers of Sioux City, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Geelan, Vicky (Larry) Conlon, Christy (Darren) Piercy, Brandy (Mark) Claire, Dylan Olson, Vanessa Wilen, Jeff (Jessica) Wilen, Brian Wilen, and Kaylina (Sean) Delperdang; fourteen great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Dahl of Sloan, IA and Jackine (LaVern) Deen of Carroll, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Hattie DuBois; husband, Keith LaVail Olson; and a sister, Doris Heinle.
