Royce Leo Beck, 61, Onawa, died April 3, 1986, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

He was born June 19, 1924, in Omaha, to Royce K and Elizabeth (Donnelly) Beck. He came to Onawa with his family when he was a boy. On February 18, 1949, he married Virginia Benjamin at Onawa. He farmed near Onawa until 1984 when he retired because of poor health.

He was a member of St John's Catholic Church and 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the former Onawa Lions Club, was president of the Farmers Co-op Association for nine years, and served on the Monona County Tax Review Board for two
years.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia, three sons, William, James, and Michael, all of Onawa, two daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Catherine Ann) Carlson of Coulter and Mrs. Gary (Pamela Kay) Casperson of Okeechobee, Fla., his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Beck of Onawa, a brother, George of Onawa, two sisters, Mrs. Arvid (Marie) Johnson of Onawa and Mrs. Dennis (Edna Mae) Stanislav of Blencoe, and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 7,1986, at St John's Catholic Church in Onawa. Father Donald Smith was Mass Celebrant. Mrs. James Stangel, the organist, accompanied David Housman who sang “Only A Shadow” and “On Eagles Wing’s.''

Bearers were Louis Benjamin, Patrick Beck, Ricky Beck, Leo Benjamin, Edwin Benjamin, and Tim Ryan.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
