Melvin L. Wyland, Onawa, Iowa, died on March 22, 1986, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

Death came at the age of 81 years and four days.

He was born at Mt. Pulaski, Illinois on March 18, 1905, the son of William Snyder Wyland and Annie Bell (Scroggins) Wyland. He moved with his family to Monona County as a child. He married Margaret Peiffer on September 25, 1953, in Dakota City, Nebraska. He was a carpenter and worked for several companies until retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Onawa.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Tim. Of Onawa; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Rochelle of Castro Valley, California; four sisters, Mrs. Skyler (Lorena) Patterson of Williamsville, Illinois, Mrs. Annabelle Walker of Decatur, Illinois; Stella Adams of Midway City, California, and Hazel Baker of Perkin, Illinois; three brothers, Virgil of Onawa, Dale of Lincoln, Illinois and Floyd of San Pablo, California and three granddaughters, Amy Jo, Carrie Lou, and Mary Sue.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Alberta; one son in infancy; three brothers, Tom, Adair, and Elmo and two sisters, Arvilla and Hilma.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 1986, at the Onawa Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating.

Bearers were Tom Loomis, Phil Niles, Chester Wright, Roger Hall, Adair Kaehlar and Fritz Yanak.

Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
