Helma Bertine Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Soren D. Johnson, died Monday morning of heart disease complicated with tuberculosis. An operation for appendicitus had been performed a few weeks ago but she has recovered from that nicely.
Miss Johnson was 19 years of age and had been a diligent pupil in the 11th grade of the class of 1915 in the Onawa high school but was obliged to give up her studies on account of ill health.
Her death seems especially sad because she is the third child of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson to be called by the death Angel within a period of 18 months and also because she had just attained to the charming age of young womanhood which lends to much of light, grace, and cheer to the home. The bereaved parents, sister and brothers have the deepest and most heartfelt sympathy of all.
The deceased was born near Whiting in Lake township 28Apr1897. She is survived by her parents, three brothers and one sister, Mrs. Ed Christie of Whiting.
Funeral services were conducted from the Whiting Congregational church by the pastor Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Interment took place in the Whiting cemetery.
