Geraldine Ann Niewohner, 80, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

A funeral mass will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, Iowa with Father Mark Stoll, Celebrant, officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa with a scriptural prayer service at 7:30 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Geraldine Ann was born on December 12, 1935, in Beemer, Nebraska the daughter of Henry and Anna (Krienert) Reiman. She attended and graduated from Beemer High School. After graduation, she was employed as a telephone operator in Fremont until her marriage.

Geraldine and Irwin Niewohner were united in marriage on May 18, 1955 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, Nebraska. The couple partnered in the farming operation in the Onawa area beginning in February 1959. Irwin preceded her in death on July 31, 2013.

Geraldine loved her family and always put everyone before herself. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. Geraldine and Irwin traveled extensively in retirement and loved polka dancing with their friends.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa. She was also an active member of St. John's Rosary Society.

Survivors include her five sons, Jim Niewohner of Onawa, IA, Tom (Theresa) Niewohner of Onawa, IA, David (Verlene) Niewohner of Shawnee, KS, Bob Niewohner of Ft. Collins, CO, and Ron (Melanie) Niewohner of Mondamin, IA; three daughters, Pat (Dan) Battani of Ankeny, IA, Diane Niewohner of Lawton, IA, and Debra (Dave) Brinkman of Sioux Falls, SD; twelve grandchildren, Annie, Jessica, Rebecca, Stephanie, Brian, Maria, Sarah, Eric, Amy, Jeremy, Taylor, and Cody; and seven great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, John, Leo, and Gene; and three sisters, Sophie Dinslage, Frances Reiman, and Lucille Kampschnieder.
