Mrs. Elizabeth Carver Dies At Ninety
Death Occurred on Thursday March 11, at the Home of her Daughter.
Came to Monona County, in 1870, and Was Known by Most of the Old Settlers of the Central part of the County.

Castana, Iowa, March 15 -- The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Carver occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary McDonald, six miles south of here on Thursday night.

Had Mrs. Carver lived until the 9th of next June she would have been 90 years of age and death was due to a general break down.

Mrs. Carver was born June 9, 1825 at North Wilburham, Mass., and when very young went with her parents (Levi and Candace Hathaway Clark) to their new home near Ithica, N.Y. at which place she grew to womanhood and it was there she was married to Leonard Carver who died several years ago.

They moved to Monona county in 1870 and she has made this her home since that time with the exception of a few years near this place.

For a number of years she has been living with her daughter, Mrs. McDonald, with who she was living at the time of her death.

Besides her daughter, Mrs. McDonald, she also leaves one son D. Carver of Guthrie, Oklahoma and a number of grand children and great grand children.

Because of advanced age and poor health Mrs. Carver has been away from home very little for a number of years and for that reason she is known better by the old settlers than those who have come here in recent years.

The funeral service was held from the home of Mrs. McDonald, Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Calkins of Castana and interment made in the Belvidere cemetery.

(She was also predeceased by two sons, John and Levi Carver.)
