Onawa Democrat Oct. 16, 1961

Alfred "Punk" Wright, a resident of the Onawa community all his life died at his home in Onawa on Thursday, October 12, 1961 at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 26 days.

He was born December 16, 1883 near Onawa. He had been a farmer for many years in this area.

Ill health had confined him to his home for several weeks. He had never married. He was a son of James and Katherine Wright.

Survivors include two sisters Mrs. Kate Ooten of Onawa and Mrs. Isabell Stanley of Primghar, Iowa. One brother, Nels Wright of Onawa and a number of neices and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 2pm Saturday, October 14 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Everett Epperson conducted the service. Mrs. Orland Ferris sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by mrs. Carl Linden.

The casket bearers were Chester Wright, Page and Jess Ooten, Dale Kreger, William Keele and Ernest Holsclaw.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery.
