At his home at Blue Lake Sunday, January 9, at about 6:30 o'clock, occurred the death of Robert James Wright, a well known and highly respected citizen of this community. He had been sick only a few days with pneumonia.
Robert James Wright was born in Lincolnshire, England, August 15, 1842 and was at the time of his death 73 years 4 months and 25 days old. He was united in Marriage to Miss Catheryne Barker while still in England. Later they journeyed to America to make their home, their first child being born in England.
They were the parent of 13 children, eight of whom are living, as follows, John, Albert, Mrs. Ella Zimmerman, Alfred, Nelson, Mrs. Kate Ooten, Isabelle and Peter.
Their oldest son died the next morning after arriving in Monona County. He wasn't quite a year old and a daughter, Rosa, died at age of 16 years from Typhoid fever. Mrs. Ella Zimmerman's twin sister died in infancy and the other two also died in infancy. Besides the bereaved wife adn children, Mr. Wright is survived by six sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Sarah Fuller, in England; Mrs. Lillian Barrett, in England;John William Wright, England; Hanna Mason, of Oregon; Lydia Hanscom, of Oregon; Samuel Wright, of Arkansas and Jennie M. Legg, or Oregon; Lena Butcher, of Onawa and George Wright, of Minnesota. The funeral was held Tuesday from the home, and interment was made in the Onawa Cemetery.
