Fred R. Parker
Ex-Moorhead Postmaster Dies

Fred R. Parker, 87, 1026 S. Glass street, postmaster at Moorhead, Ia., from 1912 until 1924, died Monday night at a hospital after a brief illness. He resided in Sioux City since 1958.

Mr. Parker taught rural schools and operated a harness shop in Moorhead from 1903 until his retirement in 1956. He was a past master of the Masonic lodge at Moorhead.

Mr. Parker was born September 25, 1871 at Chillicothe, Mo., and moved to Moorhead with his parents as a child. He married Stella E. Holmes in April, 1901, at Dunlap, Ia. Mrs. Parker died in March, 1958, in Sioux City.

Mr. Parker was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Darrell M. Hanna of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Youngkin of Des Moines, and Mrs. Helen Rhodes of Omaha; and a brother, C. A. Parker, of Lake City, Ia.

The Heaton-Westcott funeral home has charge of arrangements.

MOORHEAD NEWS
Fred Parker, a former citizen of Moorhead and business man for 57 years, passed away Monday, Sept. 14. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 20, 1958. He left one daughter Mrs. Darrell (Evelyn) Hanna of 1026 So. Alice St., Sioux City. Mr. Parker was buried beside his wife in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1959.
