Services Held For Lillian Della Reed

Lillian Della Reed, the daughter of Hans and Clara (Wellner) Miller was born near Ute, Iowa on November 5, 1921 and lived in the Mapleton community most of her life. She died April 5, 1978 near Mapleton, Iowa having reached the age of 56 years and 5 months.

On December 17, 1938 she married Clifford Reed at Sioux City. Six children were born to this marriage.

She joined St. John’s united Methodist Church, Mapleton, in 1943 and was a member of a ladies bowling team.

Services were held Saturday, April 8, 1978 at 2:30 p.m. at the Walter Chapel, Mapleton, Iowa with Rev. Louis Aitken officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton, Iowa.

Pallbearers were W.E. Miller, Edwin Price, Tom Halterman, Ray Edgington, Mike Nielsen and Lewis Davis.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford; her parents; 3 sons, Larry and Kenneth both of Sioux City and Russell at home; 3 daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Evelyn) Thies of Mapleton, Mrs. Leslie (Florence) Dean of Correctionville and Laurie at home; 2 brothers, Raymond Miller of Moville and Ephrain Miller of Smithland; 3 sisters, Mrs. Violet Steckelberg and Mrs. Nelda Weber of Mapleton and Mrs. Fern Carter of Simi Valley, California and 6 grandchildren.
