Glenn Reed, age 100, of Mapleton died Saturday, January 2, 1993, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Walter- Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton with Pastor Stephen Root officiating. Mrs. Marie Whiteing was the organist and soloist. Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mapleton.

Mr. Reed was born August 1, 1892 to Lester and Jessie (Lewis) Reed in Monona County near Mapleton, Iowa. He married Emma Mundt February 2, 1913. She died July 21, 1920. He worked for Central West Ice and Storage in Sioux City, starting as a delivery man and later was the bookkeeper. He married Blanche Dahl in November 1923. She died in March 1972. In July 1987, he moved to Mapleton and had lived at Maple Heights Nursing Home for the last three years.

Survivors include a son, Clifford of Mapleton; four daughters, Margaret McGarr of Mapleton, Flora Jordan of Sunnyvale, California, Juanita and her husband, Leonard Cassens of Climbing Hill and Phyllis Kelley of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, a daughter, Viola; a great-grandson, and a special friend Gertrude Lijigren.

Pallbearers were Russ Reed, Dr. Rodney Cassens, Doug Shupe, Doug Thies, Vernon Thies and Leo Dean.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.
