RODNEY 15 YEAR OLD BOY ACCIDENTALLY SHOT

Leonard Maynard, 15 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Maynard living on a farm east of Rodney died early Sunday morning. Young Maynard was wounded fatally Saturday as he climbed from a 15 foot ditch while hunting. It is believed the gun was discharged when he slipped on some snow, the accident being witnessed by his mother who assisted him to the house. The gunshot entered Leonard's chest to the left of the heart. Medical assistance was called immediately and everything possible was done but he succumbed to his injury early Sunday morning. Leonard who went to school at Rodney was a member of the eighth grade. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church at Smithland at 2:30 p. m. on Tuesday, Rev. Handy officiating. Interment was made in the Smithland cemetery.
