Old Whiting Resident A Suicide Victim

Eighty-two Year Old Farmer Despondent over Ill Health Blows Head Off With Shot Gun

Despondent because of ill health, Wilson McBeath, 82 years old, a retired farmer, committed suicide by shooting himself with a shotgun on his farm near Whiting early Monday night. A member of the McBeath family one of the most prominent in this territory, found Mr. McBeath in the bam with his head partly blown off from the discharge of the shotgun. The suicide victim obtained the gun from neighbors on the pretext that he intended to use it for shooting rats. Mr. McBeath had lived in Whiting for 60 years and had a wide acquaintance.

Surviving Mr. McBeath are his widow, Mrs. Emma McBeath; four daughters, Mrs. Ward Miner of Sioux City; Mrs. William Thompson of Mapleton, la.; Mrs. R. Crawford, of Whiting; and Mrs. Elmer Peterson of Chicago and a son Nev, now a resident of Ames, la.
