Mrs. Ralph Moad Buried Here Monday

With the passing of Alice May Moad, two communities that of Onawa and Whiting have lost one who was closely identified with the life of both communities throughout the fifty years of her life.

Mrs. Moad was born in Onawa, July 9th, 1882 and passed away in Sioux City Oct 1st, 1932. On March 22, 1902 she was married to Ralph W. Moad of Onawa. Two children came to bless her home, Joe L. and Rex both of whom were a great comfort to her in the days of her weakness and suffering. Her husband was constantly with her during the months of sickness and did all in his power to lighten the burden for her.

Death came as a blessed relief to the tired body on Saturday Oct. 1st. With the husband and two sons she is also survived by three sisters and three brothers, Mable McClure and Ben Templeton of Portland, Oregon; Will Templeton of Onawa, John Templeton of Whiting, Lila Lindblom of Stamford, Nebr., and Martha Shook of Sioux City. Mrs. Moad was a leading spirit in all that stood for the higher things of life in the communities in which she made her home. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Whiting and always gave liberally of her time, her strength and means to promote its welfare.

She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors lodge of Whiting.

Mrs. Moad was never too busy to help out in times of need or sorrow, and when sickness and sorrow came into her own life she bore it with a bravery and fortitude that only a Christian character could give her.

Funeral services were held in the Whiting Congregational church on Monday afternoon Oct. 3rd. Rev. G. H. Croker assisted by Rev. Robert Hoerner conducted the services.

Two songs which she had loved were sung by Mrs. Chloe Beatty and Mrs. Lulu Whiting with Mrs. Ethel Miner at the piano. A wealth of floral offerings were sent in by loving friends, and so, with close friends as pallbearers and with flowers which she loved surrounding the grave, she was laid to rest by the side of loved ones in the Onawa cemetery.
