George W. Oliver Buried Here Today

George W. Oliver a pioneer resident and native son of Monona County and Onawa passed away at his home here Tuesday morning about 9:30 o'clock following a paralytic stroke which he suffered Sunday evening. Some months ago Mr. Oliver had a similar stroke and from this he had only partially recovered although he had been quite active during the past few months. Mr. Oliver has been an active figure in the business life of Onawa having been connected with several enterprises and was successful to his undertakings. He was for a number of years engaged in the hardware business with his sons and founded one of the substantial homes of the community, rearing a family of three children who survive him with the exception of one son Glenn who died several years ago.

George W. Oliver was born near Onawa, la., April 5, 1863 and passed away at his home in Onawa, July 12, 1932. He was the oldest son of Franklin and Esther Oliver, pioneers of Onawa. He was married June 10, 1884, to Mattie Oakley. Three children were born to this union, Glenn who passed away February 9, 1920, Earl of Omaha, Nebr. and Mrs. Florence Boulden of Birmingham, Alabama. There is left to mourn his loss his devoted wife, one son, one daughter, three grandchildren Ralph and Ruth Oliver and George Boulden, Jr., two brothers, Frank of Onawa, Fred of Sioux City, three sisters, Mrs. Emma Loomis of Lyons, Nebr., Mrs. Eva Dugdalo and Mrs. Flora Hoar of Onawa and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at the Congregational church in Onawa at 3 o'clock p. m. today, Rev. Adams officiating and burial in the Onawa cemetery.
