SOLDIER, Iowa - Jeanette M. Hanson, 85, of Soldier died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Soldier Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steven Hetzel officiating. Burial will be in Soldier Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home in Soldier.

Mrs. Hanson was born May 11, 1914, in Soldier, the daughter of William and Anna (Christensen) McShannon. She graduated from Ute (Iowa) High School in 1931 and received her teaching certificate from a college in Creston, Iowa. She taught rural school for several years in the Solider area.

She married Hersel J. Hanson on Dec. 22, 1934, in Soldier. She was a homemaker. Her husband died July 4, 1988, in Omaha.

She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Eastside Homemakers Club.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Wendell and Frances of Le Mars, Iowa; a son-in-law, Don Tangeman of Wausa, Neb.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Saxen of Onawa.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria; a brother, John McShannon; and a sister, Mary Ann Nelson.
