Longtime area resident remembered June 18

Anna M. Grigg, age 95 of Ute, Iowa, died Sunday, June 15,2003, at Onawa, Iowa.

Services were held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute, with Pastor Ken Baughman and Terry and Chris Ballanytine officiating.
Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Connie Bridgeman was the organist for the service and the congregation sang, "How Great Thou Art", "The Old Rugged Cross" and
"Amazing Grace".

Anna Marie Grigg was born in Moville, Iowa to W.E. and Hattie Clark on April 2, 1908. She was raised in Bronson, Iowa and graduated from Bronson High School in 1926. On November 25, 1931, she married Chester William Grigg at Sioux City, Iowa. Chet and Anna had three children, Ruth Ann, Richard, and Robert.. Together they farmed in the Anthon-Oto area for 12 years before moving to the Mapleton-Ute area in 1943. After Chester's death in November of 1975, Anna continued to live on the farm until she moved to Ute in 1987.

Anna belonged to the United Methodist Church in Ute and was a member of the United Methodist Women for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Ruth Ann Ballantyne.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Richard William and Joyce of Tombstone, Arizona; Robert Clark and Margaret of Louisville, Nebraska; and son-in-law, John Ballantyne of Norfolk, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandchildren, Tom Ballantyne, Tracey Gorman, Tim Ballantyne, Russell Grigg, Khristine Jinks, Terry Ballantyne, Todd Ballantyne, Stacey Mansager, Harley Grigg and Ryan Grigg.

Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist. Church in Ute.
