Mrs. Elizabeth Gries of Ute, 26 -year - old daughter of Mrs. William Henry, a former Mapleton resident, was killed Sunday night in Denver when struck by a street car as she stepped from the path of an oncoming automobile. Her sister, Miss Elsie Henry, who was with her was seriously injured, but is improving.

Mrs. Gries, her husband and two children were enroute to California and had stopped in Denver to visit her mother and sister. They had visited friends here only a few days before the accident.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Christian church at Ute with interment in the St. Clair cemetery.

Mrs. Gries was a graduate of Mapleton high school and at one time was employed in the Mapleton Press office. She is survived by her husband and two children, her mother, Mrs. Henry, two sisters, Miss Elsie Henry of Denver and Miss Doris Henry of Minneapolis.

Mr. Gries and children accompanied the body to Ute from Denver, while Mrs. Henry, who has been living in Denver, remained there to be with her daughter who was injured seriously but not critically, as far as could be learned Thursday.
