SOLDIER, Iowa | Bryce Eldon Lee formerly of Soldier passed away Dec. 9, 2014, in Livermore, Calif., while residing at the Veterans Affairs Living Center. He was 93 years and three weeks of age.

The body will be cremated. Memorial services and burial will be held in the spring 2015. Dates and times for the services will be announced at a later date.

Bryce was born on Nov. 17, 1921, in Soldier, the first born son of George Eldon and Rose Blanche (Meadows) Lee. Bryce live his entire life in Soldier with the exception of his military time during World War II and the past five years in California when his health made it difficult for him to live alone.

Bryce was married to Alicia Evelyn Brinker on Sept. 27, 1947, in Pisgah, Iowa. To this union were born three daughters, Cathy Rose, Joy Alicia, and Joyce Ann. He was a rural mail carrier for 27 years. Upon his retirement from the mail service, he bought and drove a dump truck No. 5. He kept bees, tended the town lagoon, and drove the propane truck for Clifford Lee. He also pushed snow for those that were unable to do so with his trusty snow blower. He also volunteered with the city fire department and anything else that needed to be done.

He was a lifelong member of Soldier Lutheran Church. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion and the Masonic Fraternity. He was a past Master Mason of the Moorhead (Iowa) Lodge. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the greatest joy of his life.

Survivors include his daughters, Cathy Rose, Joy Alicia, and Joyce Ann; five grandchildren, Lee and Walker Carrigan, Spencer Jepson, Austin Jepson, and Tiffany Vanderpool; eight great-grandchildren, Daulton and Bailey Carrigan, Nathan and Sydney Carrigan, Samuel and Kate Jepson, and Logan and Hadley Vanderpool; two sisters, Darlene Peterson and Colleen Lake; and numerous nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alicia Evelyn (Brinker) Lee; his parents; two brothers, Gale and George E. Jr.; a sister, Donna and her son, Richard Bierman.

He leaves behind many who will miss him greatly.
