SOLDIER, Iowa -- Jerry Bair, 50, of Soldier died unexpectedly Monday, March 10, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Omaha.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Soldier Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Meggan Manlove officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Jerome Eugene Bair was born Dec. 15, 1957, in Leon, Iowa, the son of James and Jo Ann (Webster) Bair. He attended school in Prairie Community School in Gowrie, Iowa. He joined the U.S. Army and returned to Fort Dodge, Iowa, after his discharge. He was later employed with IBP in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Nancy Holverson and he were united in marriage in Dec. 15, 1989, in Fort Dodge. The couple moved to Soldier in 1993. He was a service adviser at Larson Motors and Sheridan Motors until their closing. He was currently attending Western Iowa Tech Community College and Job Corps in Denison, Iowa.

He was injured in the service and was a disabled veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Soldier; children, Kelli and her fiance, Chris Beedle of Ames, Iowa, Kyle Allen and his girlfriend, Courtney of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Karrie, Jason and Curtis Bair, all of the Fort Dodge area; several grandchildren; four brothers, Jim (Bev) of Gowrie, Iowa, John (Lorie) of Moorland, Iowa, Jack (Shelly) of Duncombe, Iowa, and Jeff (Amy) of Fort Dodge; a sister, Jane Ann (Velpo) Powers of Fort Dodge; his mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Harold Holverson of Soldier; and a brother-in-law, Steve (Cheryl) Holverson and their daughter, Jessica of Hornick, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Joe Powers; and a nephew, Shane Bair
