DAKOTA DUNES -- Leon W. Larson, 64, of Dakota Dunes, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, died Friday, March 21, 2008, due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational United Church of Christ at Onawa, with Pastor Mary Wells officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service at Onawa.

Leon was born Feb. 5, 1944, in Onawa, the son of Willard "Bud" and Eunice (Sorenson) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Congregational Church in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School in 1962.

Leon and Carol Kauffman were united in marriage on Dec. 24, 1970, in Estherville, Iowa. Leon married Lisa Moen-Jones on March 20, 2008, in Vermillion, S.D. Leon had been in the auto business for 35 years. He located in the Sioux City area in 1989, where he was co-owner of Schrier-Larson Motor Center. In October 1992, he purchased Bob Stangel's Buick and GMC dealership and operated Larson Motor Center in Onawa until selling the dealership in October 2005. He was currently employed at Tekamah Ford Lincoln Mercury.

He was a member of First Congregational United Church, Onawa Chapter of Lewis & Clark Ducks Unlimited and a former member of National Auto Dealers Association and Iowa Auto Dealers Association.

Survivors include his mother, Eunice Larson of Onawa and her special friend, John Davis of Sioux City; his wife, Lisa of Dakota Dunes; a brother and his wife, Larry and Janet Larson of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister and her husband, Kathleen and Martin Dugdale of Onawa; a son and his wife, Charles and Mary Larson of Ralston, Neb.; two daughters and their husbands, Lisa and Bob Widdowson of LaVista, Neb., and Angela and Brian Navrkal of Onawa; a stepdaughter, Krystal Kauffman-Smith of Sioux City; a stepdaughter and her husband, Karie and Larry Jones of Lincoln, Neb.; two stepsons, Taylor and Tristin Jones of Hinton, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, "Sugar."

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Daryl Larson; a stepdaughter, Kelli Kauffman; and his grandparents
