MAPLETON, Iowa | Robert "Bob" W. Tweet, 77, of Mapleton passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, in Mapleton.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. A celebration of life service will be 7 p.m. today, led by Marie Whiteing, at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, with the Rev. Scott Jensen officiating. Military rites will be provided by the 185th Air Refueling Wing.

Robert Wayne Tweet was born on March 14, 1937, in Sioux City, the son of Earnest J. and Alice C. (Moline) Tweet. He grew up and received his education in Sioux City.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on March 18, 1958. He served his country proudly, being honorably discharged on March 17, 1962. He later joined the 185th Air Guard in Sergeant Bluff, retiring with the rank of senior master sergeant.

On Nov. 23, 1987, Bob married Kathi Weber-Hall in Elk Point, S.D. Bob’s career was carpentry, primarily in the Sioux City area. He was a State of Iowa Carpenter 1 at the 185th.

Survivors include his wife, Kathi; three daughters, Tammy Guinee and her husband, Michael of Minneapolis, Dana Allyn and her husband, Bob of Mapleton, and Megan Tweet of Allen, Texas; one son, Bryan Tweet and his wife, Becky, of Miami, Okla.; five stepchildren, Stephanie Weber of Omaha, Kenneth Weber of Omaha, Perry Weber and his wife, Deb of Elk Horn, Neb., Melinda Ruperto and her husband, Charlie of Des Moines, and Craig Weber of Omaha; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Betty Jo Tweet of Tucson, Ariz.; along with other extended family members.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Thomas Tweet just three weeks ago; three sisters, June Langford, Joyce Tweet, and Janice Anderson; and six brothers, Gilbert, Wesley, Theodore, Mervel, Ernest, and Duane.
