Mapleton, Iowa - Eunice D. Lundeen, 88, of Mapleton, Iowa passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton. The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 17 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton with Pastor Jena Manchester officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 16 after 3:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Eunice Deane (Miller) Lundeen was born May 13, 1926, at Hornick, Iowa, to Edward and Eva Miller. She joined our Lord's home September 13, 2014.

She graduated from Hornick High School and then went to work at the bank in Hornick before marrying Orville Lundeen in December 1944. This union was blessed with six children. They farmed near Luton, Iowa and Dakota City, Nebraska before moving to Mapleton, Iowa in 1963 where they lived the remainder of their lives.

Eunice enjoyed gardening and loved having ladies over for coffee, sometimes in the gazebo she loved so much. She always said, "This is the best gift Dad ever gave me." She founded the Scarlett O'Hatters and enjoyed the outings with their Red Hats.

She was a member of Saint John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton as well as being an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Garden Club.

Survivors include her children, Lynn and Jeanette of Smithland, Iowa, Lynae and Frank of Castana, Iowa, Layle and Dianne of Lawton, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Nick (Lylette aka Dolly) Goslar of Ute, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Lisa) Merritt of Castana, Iowa; grandkids; great grandkids; two sisters, Justine and Duke Prichard of Hornick, Iowa and Jackie Nielsen of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Lorna Lowry and brother-in-law, Jim Lundeen, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; along with several other relatives and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997 and Lisa's twin, Lea, in 1963.
