Ronald Peter Seuntjens was born May 29, 1932, on a farm north of Danbury, Iowa, the son of Siebert and Clara (Ortner) Seuntjens. He grew up on the farm and first attended country school. In 1950, he graduated from Danbury Catholic High School. Along with working with his dad on the farm, Ron worked on the construction of Highway 175 between Mapleton and the Ida-Woodbury County line. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, stationed in Korea. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the Danbury area and began his lifelong career in farming and raising livestock.

On June 23, 1956, Ron married Lois Weber at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury. They lived on the same farm that Ron moved to as a child in 1940. It was there that they raised their four children. In 1987, they moved to their farm north of Mapleton, Iowa. Lois passed away May 30, 1999.

Ron married Marilyn Lindblom on Sept. 6, 2002, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury. They made their home in Mapleton.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury, where he faithfully served as parish director for 27 years and was an avid supporter of the Danbury Catholic School. He was a past Grand Knight and a member of the Garrigan 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was an active member of the American Legion Carlson-Frum Post 336 of Danbury.

Ron raised "good black cattle" and was involved in the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association as well as the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, attending their annual convention for over 25 years at many different locations throughout the United States. The Superior Livestock Auction Co. recognized his success in cattle production. He also raised hogs and was named an Iowa Master Pork Producer in 1985. Ron was also known to do a lot of farming "going down the road." He was instrumental in reviving the Danbury Corn Days annual celebration, serving as chairman of the Corn Days Committee when it was reinstated in 1975. He enjoyed the many winter trips with family and friends to the southern states, mainly Arizona and Southern California.
