James Thomas Pullen was born November 8, 1904 in Blair, Nebraska and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa on April 23, 1983. Death came at the age of 78 years.

Mr. Pullen served as a mechanic. He was united in marriage with Alice Chandler April 15, 1950 in Lake View, Iowa. They had made their home at Oto and Soldier before moving to rural Hornick three years ago. He was Fire Chief and Mayor of Whiting for four years and operated Pullen Garage in Whiting for 21 years.

He was a member of Weston Masonic Lodge No. 562 A.F. and A.M. of Whiting.

Survivors include his wife Alice two sons, Donald in California and Leo in Salt Lake City, Utah; three step-daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Hamilton of Belen, New Mexico; Mrs. Kenneth (Gloria) Johnson of Smithland, Iowa and Mrs. Gail (Evon) Blakely of Rodney, Iowa; three-stepsons, Vernon Chandler of Hereford, Arizona; Jim of Rosebud, Montana and Leo of Castana, Iowa; one brother, Loren of Fremont, Nebraska, two sisters, Mrs. Elaine Mathiesen of Herman, Nebraska and Mrs. Violet Mathiesen of Blair, Nebraska, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two brothers.

Services were held at the Willman Funeral Chapel in Rodney, Iowa on Tuesday, April 26, 1983 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Everett E. Epperson officiating. Mrs. Ellen Harbeck was the organist.

Bearers were David Goscin Benny Krusen, Mike Nepper, Kelley Chandler, Justin Chandler and Terry Warren.

Interment was in Harrison Cemetery at Whiting, Iowa, with arrangements by the Willmar Funeral Home of Rodney, Iowa.
