ONAWA, Iowa — Inez Maule De Sommer, 88, of Onawa died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at Burgess Health Services in Onawa.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. De Sommer was born Feb. 13, 1911, near Mondamin, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Jennie (McElroy) Maule. She graduated from Onawa High School in 1930. She moved to Ogden, Utah in 1941 and to Oakland, Calif., in 1943, where she was employed in the shipyards during World War II.

She married Myles De Sommer on Oct. 27, 1945, in California. The couple moved to Graham, Wash., where they operated a dairy farm. In the early 1950s, they moved to the bay area near Oakland, Calif., where they started a realty business. In 1983, they returned to Onawa. He died March 5, 1989, in Phoenix.

She was affiliated with First Christian Church.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, Robert and Margaret Maule of Turin, Iowa; four nieces, Judy Sessions, Terry Dehn/Bolderding, Emilie Anderson and Mary Lou Brubaker; four nephews, Dick Beedle, John, Scott and David Maule; and several grandnieces and grand-nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Elroy, Maule; and a sister, Lois Beedle.
