Herbert A. Buss, 78, of Onawa, Iowa died November 20, 1997, at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

He was born May 6, 1919, at DeWitt, Nebraska, the son of William M. and Elise (Mahloch) Buss. He moved to the Onawa area with his parents in 1932. He assisted his father on the farm until his father retired in 1948. He had worked for Monona Services in Onawa.

Herbert was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa.

He is survived by three brothers, Martin W. Buss of Mapleton, Iowa; Otto L. Buss of Cottage Grove, Oregon, and Melvin J. Buss of Ute, Iowa; two sisters, Ida B. Oliver of Winterset, Iowa, and Pearl B. Timms of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rose E. Pavlovich of Tuscon, Arizona.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 1997, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Steven C. Hetzel officiating.

The casket bearers were Troy Buss, Jason Buss, Larry Buss, Jerrold Oliver, and Dwight Alberding.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
